Notice is hereby given that applications to fill the vacant office of Randall County Commissioner, Precinct 1, are being accepted until the office is filled. The appointment shall be made by the County Judge and shall last until the office is filled in a special election in November 2022. An election for the office will again be held in November 2024, after which an election for the office will be held every four years. To be eligible to hold the office, an applicant must:
(1) be a United States citizen;
(2) be 18 years of age or older on the date of appointment;
(3) have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
(A) totally mentally incapacitated; or
(B) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
(4) have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the applicant has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
(5) have resided continuously in the State of Texas for 12 months and in Randall County Commissioner Precinct 1 for six months immediately preceding the date the appointment is made;
(6) on the date of appointment be registered to vote in Randall County; and
(7) satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.
